2026 Lexus RZ gains more power, range, and virtual manual shifting

The 2026 Lexus RZ debuts with up to 402 horsepower, improved EV range, faster charging, and the first Lexus virtual manual shift system in the F SPORT trim.
Lexus is continuing to push forward in the electric vehicle segment with the debut of the updated 2026 RZ crossover. The lineup now includes a new, high-performance version — the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD, which introduces the brand’s first-ever virtual manual gear shift system for EVs.
The new RZ offers three configurations: the 350e FWD with 221 horsepower, the 450e AWD with 308 horsepower, and the flagship 550e F SPORT AWD delivering 402 horsepower. This top-tier variant not only sets a power record for the RZ line but also features the innovative M Mode, allowing drivers to manually shift gears via paddle shifters. The system simulates an 8-speed transmission, with throttle feedback, engine-like sound cues, and visual prompts that heighten the driving sensation.
Acceleration figures highlight the lineup's performance spread: from 7.2 seconds (350e) to a swift 4.1 seconds (550e F SPORT). Battery system improvements bring a range boost of up to 300 miles for the 350e, while fast charging now enables a 10% to 80% refill in around 30 minutes under optimal conditions.
The 550e F SPORT stands out visually with a unique solid light gray “Wind” paint that pairs boldly with black F SPORT accents including emblems, spoilers, and aerodynamic 20-inch wheels. This contrast not only enhances aesthetics but contributes to better airflow and efficiency.
Inside, the 550e F SPORT continues the sporty-luxury theme with exclusive Ultrasuede® trim featuring laser-etched designs and blue contrast stitching. Aluminum pedals, F SPORT scuff plates, and a finely designed center console elevate the cabin experience. Lexus' Thematic Illumination adds depth, with animated door panel lighting that subtly shifts, inspired by the brand’s “Time in Design” philosophy.
Production takes place at Lexus’ Motomachi plant in Japan, a site known for its environmentally conscious manufacturing processes. The 2026 RZ is expected to go on sale later this year, aligning with the brand’s broader electrification strategy which includes multiple BEV launches and platform expansions through 2027.
