BMW i4 gains efficiency with SiC inverters, new M60 xDrive model debuts, Digital Key simplified, and over 150 Individual colors added for summer 2025 updates.

BMW’s summer 2025 model updates go far beyond surface-level tweaks, introducing a robust set of innovations in electrification and user-focused digital upgrades. At the heart of this evolution lies the upgraded BMW i4 lineup, which benefits from both hardware enhancements and a new performance benchmark.

Starting July 2025, the i4 eDrive35 and eDrive40 will be equipped with silicon carbide (SiC) inverter technology, cutting energy consumption by 4.5% and increasing driving range—up to 510 km in the case of the i4 eDrive40, depending on configuration. These changes underline BMW’s pursuit of greater efficiency without compromising performance.

Joining the lineup is the new BMW i4 M60 xDrive, boasting 601 hp and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. This marks a significant step for the i4 series, reinforcing its position in the high-performance EV segment.

BMW is also modernizing how drivers interact with their cars. The BMW Digital Key will be easier to set up thanks to the newly introduced Setup Card, which uses a QR code or NFC chip to link smartphones directly to the vehicle. Setup flows seamlessly into the My BMW app, enabling activation for up to 18 devices and allowing owners to assign custom access roles, including performance restrictions for novice drivers. This move signals BMW’s push toward a fully keyless future.

Practical additions also find their place. The Tyre Repair Kit Plus will become standard on several models, including the 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series, and 4 Series. Capable of sealing punctures and allowing continued travel for up to 200 km at speeds of up to 80 km/h, the kit reflects a broader industry trend away from spare tires.

On the aesthetic front, customers can now choose from over 150 exclusive BMW Individual paint finishes directly within the vehicle configurator. Previously limited to a separate visualizer tool, this change brings personalization options to the forefront of the buying experience.

Together, these updates reinforce BMW’s image as a brand dedicated to sustainable progress, user-centric design, and seamless digital integration. With improved range, smarter access, and greater customization, summer 2025 looks bright for those seeking electric performance with personality.
