2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R Appears on Bring a Trailer Auction
A 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R with 577 hp and 25k miles is listed on Bring a Trailer. The auction listing details specifications, service history and prior sale in 2025.
A 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R has appeared on Bring a Trailer, offering enthusiasts a chance to bid on one of the most track-focused production AMG models of its era. Finished in Jupiter Red over a Black Exclusive Nappa leather and Dinamica interior, the coupe had reached a bid of $88,888 at the time of writing, with the auction scheduled to end on March 12.
Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle. The factory output is rated at 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. According to official figures, the car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 198 mph.ъ
The AMG GT R holds a special place within the AMG GT lineup. When it was introduced, Mercedes-AMG positioned the model as the most extreme road-going version of the platform, drawing heavily on the brand’s racing technology. The car features active aerodynamics, rear-axle steering, and a nine-stage AMG Traction Control system. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and lightweight components, including carbon-fiber body elements, further emphasize its track-focused character.
The example currently listed carries several signature GT R features. Among them are the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, a carbon-fiber roof panel, and a fixed rear wing. The car rides on staggered 19- and 20-inch forged AMG wheels and is equipped with heated AMG Performance seats and the COMAND infotainment system with navigation.
The odometer shows approximately 25,000 miles, with around 900 of those added by the current owner. Service history includes replacement of the right-side active transaxle mount in June 2024, an oil change in May 2025, installation of new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in August 2025, and replacement of the power steering pump and a drive belt in September 2025.
A Carfax report notes a damage entry dated June 2025. The seller explains that the record relates to a windshield replacement after chips developed in the glass, rather than structural damage to the car.
The car also carries an unusual auction history. The same Mercedes-AMG GT R was previously sold on Bring a Trailer in November 2025 for $97,000. According to the current seller, the vehicle was purchased while waiting for a custom-ordered AMG to be built. Once that car arrived, the temporary purchase was put back on the market.
When new, the AMG GT R served as the flagship of the AMG GT family and carried a starting price of $157,000 in the United States, excluding delivery. Combining significant power with racing-inspired chassis technology, the model quickly established itself as one of the most serious road cars Mercedes-AMG had produced.
Even today, the GT R remains a distinctive presence on the secondary sports-car market. Listings are relatively limited at any given time, and European market prices often exceed €130,000–€150,000. Against that backdrop, a well-documented example with a clear auction trail and bold specification tends to draw particular attention from enthusiasts and collectors alike.
With several days remaining before the auction closes, the final sale price has yet to be determined. What is already clear, however, is that this GT R stands out not only as a high-performance coupe but also as a clearly documented example of one of AMG’s most notable modern machines.
