Porsche celebrates success in Barcelona, Shanghai, and Detroit

Ghiretti wins in Supercup, Wehrlein and da Costa secure podium in Formula E, Porsche 963 finishes top three in IMSA Detroit. Porsche leads across series.
The beginning of June 2025 delivered a triple shot of success for Porsche’s global motorsport program. From the sun-drenched curves of Barcelona to rain-soaked Shanghai and the narrow streets of Detroit, Porsche proved once again that racing excellence knows no format.
Supercup: Ghiretti’s Comeback in Barcelona
At the third round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Barcelona, French driver Alessandro Ghiretti lit up the weekend with a commanding victory for Schumacher CLRT. After overtaking teammate Flynt Schuring early on, Ghiretti managed his tyres brilliantly and controlled the pace to take the checkered flag.
His first win of the season catapulted him to second place in the overall standings, just 9.5 points behind Theo Oeverhaus. Schuring, who had taken a sensational pole position as a rookie, ultimately finished fifth — a reminder that raw speed must still be matched with race-day execution.
With multiple Porsche Juniors in contention, the 2025 Supercup season is shaping into a multi-way battle, and each round brings shifting momentum.
Formula E: Wet-Weather Mastery in Shanghai
Porsche’s Formula E factory team, TAG Heuer Porsche, executed a nearly flawless race in Shanghai. Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa finished second and third, scoring the team’s third double podium of the season — and more importantly, regaining the lead in the team championship by a single point over Nissan.
It wasn’t just the results that stood out. With challenging wet conditions, limited practice, and a delayed start behind the Taycan Turbo GT safety car, the race demanded both strategy and composure. Wehrlein, who also set the fastest lap, noted that it was the first time this season he felt genuinely at ease on a wet track. That confidence could be a game-changer with five races left on the calendar.
IMSA: Strategy and Survival in the Streets of Detroit
Across the Atlantic, Porsche Penske Motorsport carried their winning form into the fifth round of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship in Detroit. The factory-run Porsche 963 entries finished third and fourth, marking the 17th consecutive race with a Porsche on the podium since 2023.
Drivers Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet (6) edged out teammates Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy (7) after a strong pit strategy and a late-race shuffle. Though grip became a challenge in the final stages due to a temperature drop, Porsche’s tactical calls and consistent execution paid off.
In the championship standings, Porsche leads both the driver and manufacturer classifications, heading confidently toward the next rounds at Watkins Glen and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Three continents, three disciplines, and one clear message: Porsche’s racing program is not only performing — it’s thriving. With Le Mans, Jakarta, and the rest of the season still ahead, the brand's competitive fire is burning stronger than ever.
