Audi introduces the Q5 SUV and Sportback e-hybrids with up to 100 km electric range, 270 kW power, advanced battery, and intelligent hybrid control.

Audi continues to push forward on its electrification path with the introduction of the updated Q5 Sportback e-hybrid quattro in its top-tier 270 kW configuration. The model blends sporty performance with electric efficiency and high-end tech, marking a clear step forward in the premium plug-in hybrid SUV space. First revealed on June 11, 2025, the model will go on sale in Europe in the third quarter.

At the heart of the Q5 Sportback e-hybrid is a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine rated at 185 kW, paired with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 270 kW. Acceleration is brisk: 0 to 100 km/h takes just 5.1 seconds. Yet, this performance comes with a commendable fuel economy — a combined WLTP consumption of 2.6 to 3.3 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions between 60 and 76 g/km. Even with a depleted battery, the car returns 7.4–8.3 l/100 km, placing it in CO₂ classes G to F in such conditions.

The power source is a newly developed 25.9 kWh high-voltage battery (net 20.7 kWh), built using cell-to-pack technology. This design enhances energy density and enables an electric-only range of up to 100 kilometers. Charging is fast and efficient: using an 11 kW AC supply, the battery can be recharged to full in just 2.5 hours.

Driving modes include EV and Hybrid, with a new feature that allows the driver to manually set the desired charge level — useful for conserving battery for urban zones. Regenerative braking has also been improved: three levels of deceleration can be selected using paddles on the steering wheel, offering greater control and energy recovery.

The 270 kW variant comes well-equipped. Standard features include LED headlights plus, dynamic rear lights, the MMI Experience Plus infotainment system with app integration, an Audi sound system, S-line interior trim in black leatherette, and 19-inch ten-arm aero-style alloy wheels. Practicality hasn’t been forgotten: the rear bench is length-adjustable and tiltable, increasing comfort and cargo flexibility.

Priced from €74,300 in Germany, the Q5 Sportback e-hybrid 270 kW stands out with its blend of power, efficiency, and digital finesse. Rather than just ticking the boxes for electrification, it delivers a practical, compelling solution for premium SUV buyers seeking both performance and a meaningful electric experience.
