McLaren Launches Project Endurance with 2027 Le Mans Hypercar

McLaren debuts Project Endurance, offering exclusive access to the 2027 Le Mans Hypercar, race development, and a two-year track program.
McLaren is charting a bold course into endurance racing with the launch of Project: Endurance — a customer program unlike anything in the brand’s history. Developed in collaboration with McLaren Racing, this initiative will offer a select group of clients the chance to own a genuine Le Mans Hypercar built in parallel with the factory LMDh car set to debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2027.
Participation in Project: Endurance goes far beyond vehicle ownership. Customers will gain unprecedented access to the inner workings of McLaren's development and racing operations, including behind-the-scenes involvement in testing, engineering sessions, and interactions with factory drivers and team engineers. The customer car shares its core with the race machine: a rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid system. Its chassis is being developed in collaboration with legendary race car constructor Dallara, known for its work in INDYCAR.
A major component of the program is a two-year track experience on top-tier circuits around the world. McLaren promises full racing support for each participant: from mechanics and engineers to personal driving coaches, all delivered through an arrive-and-drive format that removes logistical complexity for owners.
Crucially, Project: Endurance also ties customers into McLaren's competitive journey. The Woking-based brand is not just entering Le Mans for the spectacle — it’s aiming to win motorsport’s elusive Triple Crown in a single season: Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This feat, previously achieved by McLaren across decades, is now being pursued as a coordinated campaign in 2027.
While pricing and total production numbers remain undisclosed, McLaren has confirmed that access to Project: Endurance will be highly restricted. The program is designed to be intensely exclusive — a fully immersive motorsport experience unlike any other. Although comparable initiatives exist in the hypercar world, McLaren’s approach positions the customer not just as an observer, but as a participant embedded in the process.
Will McLaren repeat the fairy tale of its 1995 Le Mans victory? The answer will come in 2027. For now, Project: Endurance signals that McLaren’s racing ambitions are accelerating — and bringing a few select customers along for the ride.
