Porsche Taycan Turbo GT sets electric lap records at Road Atlanta and Yas Marina, showcasing top performance with Weissach package and over 1100 PS.

Porsche’s flagship electric sports sedan, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package, has added two more lap records to its growing list of triumphs — this time at Road Atlanta in the United States and the Yas Marina Circuit in the United Arab Emirates. These new records solidify the model’s reputation as the most powerful production Porsche and showcase its track-focused engineering.

At the iconic 4-kilometre Road Atlanta circuit in Georgia, brand ambassador and racing professional Patrick Long piloted the Taycan Turbo GT to a stunning 1:27.1-minute lap. That’s more than six seconds faster than the previous record set by the Taycan Turbo S back in 2020. Despite damp patches and changing weather, Long praised the car’s responsiveness and body control, noting that the Porsche Active Ride suspension neutralized unwanted movements with impressive precision.

On the other side of the globe, a different challenge awaited. High ambient temperatures in Abu Dhabi meant GT instructor and Dubai 24 Hour GT4 class winner Ramez Azzam had to chase the lap record under the night sky. Clocking a 2:07.2-minute lap on the 5.281-kilometre Yas Marina GP circuit, he came within just 1.1 seconds of the touring car record. His feat has been officially recognized by the Emirates Motorsport Association as the fastest lap ever recorded by a production electric vehicle on the full Yas Marina layout.

These latest milestones add to a streak of Taycan Turbo GT victories. Earlier in 2025, Felipe Nasr broke the EV record at Interlagos in Brazil, while development driver Lars Kern set new benchmarks at Shanghai and Laguna Seca. At the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, Kern shaved 26 seconds off his previous best in a Taycan Turbo S, lapping the circuit in just 7:07.5.

The performance is no coincidence. Porsche equipped the Taycan Turbo GT with a new pulse inverter using silicon carbide, helping it achieve over 1,100 PS of peak power. Attack Mode, borrowed from Formula E technology, delivers an extra 120 kW for 10 seconds — enough to make a difference during critical track sections. The Weissach version ditches the rear seats and incorporates lightweight carbon components, pushing the car’s power-to-weight ratio even further.

With GT-specific tuning and adaptive suspension, the Taycan Turbo GT delivers not just power, but finesse — redefining what’s possible for road-legal EVs on closed circuits. And with momentum on its side, its run of victories may only be getting started.
