Skoda Elroq RS introduced in exclusive matte grey finish
Skoda has unveiled the Elroq RS in a striking new color: a matte finish called Matt Grey. This limited edition marks a first in several ways—it’s the brand’s first electric car to sport a matte body straight from the Czech production lines, and the first series model to fully embrace the Modern Solid design language.
Only 800 units of this special Elroq RS will be produced. According to project manager Veronika Straskrabova, the matte paint concept had been on the table for some time, but it was this RS edition that finally brought it to life.
The paint development was led by Maria Kertzscher, a specialist from the Color & Trim department. She chose Graphite Grey as the base, a bold and vivid color that retains its visual strength even under a matte layer. But the process wasn’t straightforward—not every tone works with matte finishes. Kertzscher explained that the key was ensuring the paint didn’t look dull and that plastic elements matched the body color precisely.

The result is a vehicle that feels both subtle and daring. The matte body is accentuated by glossy black elements such as the door handles, side mirrors, and rear spoiler—an interplay of finishes that enhances the Elroq RS’s sporty character without overstatement.
Beneath the surface lies impressive engineering. The Elroq RS features a dual-motor powertrain delivering 250 kW, propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Still, it maintains the everyday practicality that defines Skoda’s RS models.
As matte textures become increasingly common in design—from smartphones to automotive styling—Skoda seems poised to turn this from an experiment into a design philosophy. And according to Kertzscher, there are already ideas in the pipeline for new shades to come.
