FAT Mankei Celebrates Porsche Heritage with 963 RSP and 917K

Porsche marked a milestone at FAT Mankei, showcasing the 963 RSP and 917K together in Austria, blending innovation with motorsport tradition.
High above the clouds on Austria’s Grossglockner Pass, the spirit of Porsche motorsport came alive as FAT Mankei hosted a thrilling celebration of automotive legacy. What unfolded was more than just a car meet — it was a living homage to history, engineering, and the culture that surrounds the Porsche name.
Founded by Ferdinand Porsche, great-grandson of the brand’s originator, FAT Mankei opened its doors in 2023 with the vision of creating a cultural pit stop on one of the world’s most scenic roads. Since then, it has evolved into a sanctuary for petrolheads and design enthusiasts alike, merging natural beauty with mechanical artistry.
In June 2025, the venue welcomed the Porsche community to an unforgettable gathering. Iconic museum cars descended from Zuffenhausen — including the 962 C in Shell/Dunlop livery, the Vaillant 917/30 Spyder, and the Paris-Dakar 911 Carrera 3.2 4x4. The display also featured the rare 944 Turbo Cup and track-proven 911 RSR.
But the spotlight shone brightest on two exceptional machines that symbolize Porsche’s past and future: a road-legal version of the legendary 917K, and the modern marvel — the 963 RSP Le Mans Hypercar, converted for street use. Based on the LMDh-spec Porsche 963 developed for top-tier endurance racing, the RSP version blends motorsport technology with road-going accessibility. Their joint public appearance at FAT Mankei marked a unique moment, the only one of its kind outside Le Mans, before both cars were returned to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
The setting itself added historic weight. Back in the 1940s and 50s, Ferry Porsche tested the first 356 prototypes along the very same alpine route, challenging engines to withstand the high altitudes and long climbs. Today, Grossglockner remains a proving ground — not just for machines, but for the spirit of the brand.
Attendees didn’t just admire; they experienced. Behind the wheel of the Taycan Turbo GT and 911 GT3 RS, participants tackled mountain roads with the help of expert instructors. It was an opportunity to feel the Porsche DNA in motion, framed by the stunning peaks of the Austrian Alps.
The event also welcomed members of GT Circle — Porsche’s exclusive GT owner community accessed via its dedicated app. More than just a social platform, the app connects drivers to curated events, exclusive insights, and a global network of like-minded enthusiasts.
FAT Mankei is a key piece in a larger mosaic. FAT International has already revived the legendary Ice Race in Zell am See, launched the FAT Karting League to nurture young talent, and aligned itself with Proton Competition in the FIA World Endurance Championship through the 963 program. The 963 RSP serves as a bridge between the racetrack and the road — tangible proof that high-performance engineering can exist beyond pit lanes.
What began as a rest stop has become a movement — one that honors tradition while accelerating toward the future. And with each new engine start echoing off the cliffs of Grossglockner, the legacy of Porsche continues to grow, not just in speed, but in soul.
