BMW presented the new M2 CS as the prize for the 2025 BMW M Award during MotoGP at Assen. Discover its specs, performance, and racing legacy.

Assen, the Netherlands – A cherished tradition in the MotoGP™ world has once again taken center stage. At the TT Circuit Assen, BMW unveiled the exclusive BMW M2 CS in Velvet Blue Metallic – the grand prize awaiting the fastest qualifier of the 2025 season.

This year's reveal featured riders Brad Binder and Alex Rins, who lifted the cover on the latest award car. The BMW M Award, established in 2003, honors the rider with the most qualifying points over the season. The car will be handed over during the season finale in Valencia this November.

The new BMW M2 CS is more than a sleek silhouette – it’s a technical marvel built for raw performance. With a 6-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 530 hp, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Rear-wheel drive, an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, and a 30 kg weight reduction over the standard model make this the lightest and most agile M2 of its generation.

Carbon fiber plays a central role in the car’s construction – from the hood to the roof – complemented by forged M alloy wheels and the brand’s signature performance dynamics. It’s not just a reward, but a true driver’s machine.

During the reveal, Binder and Rins engaged in a playful “Drive in Reverse Challenge,” navigating a marked course in reverse gear. Binder took the win, while Rins provided witty commentary, bringing a touch of humor to the serious business of speed.

The BMW M Award has crowned legends since its inception – from Marc Márquez’s record seven consecutive wins to recent champion Francesco Bagnaia. The 2025 edition, with the M2 CS as its trophy, may well go down as one of the most desirable prizes in the award’s history – and perhaps a preview of even sharper M models to come.
