Hennessey Venom 1200: A 1,204-HP Evolution of the Shelby GT500

Hennessey Performance introduces the Venom 1200 Mustang GT500, a 1,204-hp powerhouse with a 3.8L supercharger. Limited to 66 units, it pays tribute to Ford’s 1966 Le Mans victory. Learn more.
Hennessey Performance has unleashed a beast onto the roads with its upgraded Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The new Venom 1200 now boasts 1,204 horsepower and 902 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful Mustangs ever built.
To achieve this, Hennessey engineers significantly upgraded the 5.2-liter V8. The modifications include a larger 3.8-liter supercharger, new fuel rails, injectors, and an oil-air separation system. The dual-clutch transmission has also been recalibrated to handle the increased power output.
But Venom 1200 isn’t just about numbers on paper. The car has undergone extensive testing on Hennessey’s dyno, confirming its performance capabilities. To unlock its full potential, it’s recommended to run on E85 fuel, though it remains compatible with standard gasoline.
Production is limited to just 66 units—a nod to Ford’s historic victory at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the American team defeated Ferrari for the first time. To commemorate this, buyers can opt for an additional Ford Mark II GT40 1966-inspired livery package for $4,950.
The base upgrade package is priced at $59,950, excluding the cost of the Ford Shelby GT500 itself. In return, owners receive not only a substantial performance boost but also exclusive badging and a serialized plaque. Hennessey also backs the upgrade with a 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty.
Venom 1200 isn’t just another modified Mustang. It positions itself as a response to competitors like the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 (1,025 hp) and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (650 hp), significantly surpassing them in sheer power. With its combination of performance, exclusivity, and historical significance, it’s set to be a dream car for collectors and muscle car enthusiasts alike.
