Mercedes-Benz Q2 2025 results: CLA gains, GLC leads global sales

Mercedes-Benz sold 547,100 cars and vans in Q2 2025, boosted by strong CLA orders, GLC bestseller status and rising plug-in hybrid demand.
The second quarter of 2025 turned out to be a mix of contrasting figures and cautious optimism for Mercedes-Benz. Despite a global sales decline of 9%, the brand managed to sustain strong demand in key regions, with certain segments even recording growth. Over three months, Mercedes-Benz sold 547,100 cars and vans worldwide.
The main driver of positive momentum was the steady appetite for top-end models. In the US, retail sales jumped by an impressive 26%, while Germany saw a 7% increase. Standouts included the G-Class, which surged by 56% in deliveries, and AMG performance vehicles, up 19%. Overall, the Top-End segment accounted for 14.3% of total car sales.
The GLC continued to hold its position as the global bestseller, growing by 9% in the quarter. The newly launched CLE showed even sharper traction, with sales climbing 30% for the quarter and 66% for the first half of the year — clear signs of strong interest in the updated lineup.
Electrification remains a focal point for Mercedes-Benz. In Europe, the share of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles reached 40%, and globally it stood at 21%. Plug-in hybrid sales alone grew by 34% in Q2. In September, the company is set to unveil the all-electric GLC, which is expected to strengthen the mid-size EV portfolio and partly counter the dip in BEV deliveries seen this year.
Meanwhile, the CLA is gathering momentum. Orders for the all-new generation began in Europe at the end of April. The electric CLA is set to cover over 700 kilometers on a single charge, with rapid charging adding roughly 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes.
Mercedes-Benz Vans delivered mixed results. Although annual sales fell by 10% compared to the previous year, volumes rose by 13% from the first quarter. A highlight was the major contract with Amazon — more than 5,000 eSprinter and eVito electric vans will soon expand the retail giant’s European delivery network.
Against the backdrop of new global tariffs, the company is reinforcing local production. The GLC will be manufactured in Alabama from 2027 onwards, while in China, Mercedes-Benz continues to localize select models to minimize tariff impacts and retain its lead in the top-end luxury segment.
With the largest wave of product launches still ahead, Mercedes-Benz cautiously forecasts a steady strengthening of its market position, despite ongoing volatility and fresh challenges.
