Kia reveals first teaser images of the 2027 Seltos ahead of its New York Auto Show debut, highlighting new design, platform updates, and a planned hybrid variant.

The second-generation Kia Seltos arrives with a noticeably sharper and more angular design, as early teaser images reveal a compact crossover that shifts closer in style to the larger Telluride. The full debut is scheduled for April 1 at the New York International Auto Show, where Kia will unveil complete details of the 2027 model.

The previewed design points to a more squared-off and upright stance, with strong body lines and distinctive LED daytime running lights shaping a new visual identity. This direction reflects Kia’s Opposites United philosophy, which continues to define the brand’s latest vehicles.

The update goes beyond styling. The new Seltos is built on the K3 platform, bringing increases in length, width, and wheelbase. These changes translate into more interior space and improved driving stability, supported by a body structure that incorporates a high percentage of high-strength steel.

Inside, the cabin has been reworked with a modern layout centered around a wide digital display that integrates the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Additional features include a panoramic roof, ambient lighting, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, moving the model closer to higher segments in terms of equipment.

The powertrain lineup retains gasoline engines, including a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter unit and a turbocharged 1.6-liter option. For the first time, a hybrid version is also planned, expanding the model’s range and aligning with Kia’s broader electrification strategy.

Seltos remains a key player in the subcompact crossover segment, competing with models such as the Mazda CX-30, Volkswagen Taos, and Subaru Crosstrek. In this context, the transition to a new generation with a fresh platform, larger dimensions, and the addition of a hybrid variant signals a significant repositioning aimed at strengthening its global market presence.

Final specifications, trims, and pricing will be announced during the official presentation in New York.
