Bentley Motors’ new Bentayga Speed sets SUV hillclimb record at Goodwood 2025, underlining luxury SUV power and dynamic design in challenging conditions.

Bentley has set a new record at the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb while also staging its largest ever presence at the event. The new Bentayga Speed not only claimed the title of the fastest ICE-powered production SUV to tackle the hill, with a run of just 55.8 seconds, but also took centre stage at Bentley’s impressive two-storey stand — the biggest in the marque’s Goodwood history, spanning over 500 square metres.

The record-breaking run showcased the full potential of the reworked 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Delivering 650 PS and 850 Nm of torque, the Bentayga Speed sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h). At the wheel for the record was Andy Marson — Bentley’s vehicle dynamics expert and most experienced Goodwood driver — who pushed the SUV to a peak of 130 mph before braking for the Molecomb section, all despite the damp conditions.

The 2025 Goodwood Festival also marked the UK dynamic public debut of both the Bentayga Speed and the Batur Convertible. Supporting the event were more than 30 Bentleys — some tackling the famous hill, others serving as course cars or providing unique passenger rides. A fleet of 18 chauffeur-driven Bentleys ensured over 400 guests, customers and members of the media moved smoothly across the four days of festivities.

At the front of Bentley’s new stand, visitors discovered a vibrant line-up of the brand’s latest models. The striking Continental GT Speed in Orange Flame showed off a new carbon Styling Specification and the freshly announced Akrapovic Titanium sports exhaust. Alongside it stood the elegant Black Crystal Flying Spur Black Edition with bold Mandarin brake calipers, and the Storm Grey Satin Black Edition Bentayga S — its satin paintwork hand-finished over 55 hours by Bentley’s skilled craftspeople.

Guests were treated to live demonstrations of traditional craftsmanship, from hand-sewn steering wheels to veneering techniques, while the Bentley Collection boutique offered an exclusive chance to take home a piece of the marque’s heritage.

With a new record run and its most significant Goodwood showcase to date, Bentley has once again underlined its commitment to blending luxury, performance and craft — a philosophy that continues to capture the imagination, even when the tarmac is wet underfoot.
