Mercedes-Benz showcases new Sprinter-based motorhomes at Caravan Salon Düsseldorf 2025 and marks 30 years of innovation in the motorhome industry.

Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 30 years of the Sprinter with confidence, reaffirming its role not just as a commercial van icon but also as a key player in the motorhome industry. This year’s Caravan Salon Düsseldorf isn’t just a showcase — it’s a tribute to decades of collaboration with leading campervan manufacturers and the debut of several new models built on the Sprinter platform.

A central focus is the traction head variant of the Sprinter, now accounting for over half of all Sprinter-based motorhomes in Europe. This layout offers maximum flexibility for converters, allowing customization of floor plans, storage, and living space. Brands like Carthago, Laika, Malibu, Alphavan, and Bürstner are capitalizing on this flexibility to meet diverse travel needs.

The line-up includes the ultra-compact Bürstner Habiton HM 6.0, based on the 315 CDI Sprinter, and the more powerful HMX 6.0 with all-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Carthago is presenting lightweight yet rigid constructions with advanced safety features. Alphavan is targeting high-end, off-grid travel with 7-meter models and super-high roofs, while Malibu’s Genius LE 641 combines compact size with well-finished interiors and Sprinter’s all-wheel drive capabilities.

Sprinter’s evolution goes far beyond hardware. Mercedes-Benz’s digital ecosystem includes trailer-friendly navigation, remote vehicle access, health monitoring, and a dedicated Hibernation Mode for seasonal storage. These features are accessible via the Mercedes me app, available through flexible subscriptions.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz is laying the groundwork for the future. The all-new modular VAN.EA electric architecture is slated for rollout starting in 2026, followed by VAN.CA for combustion engine variants. Both platforms will be built on shared production lines to streamline scalability and reduce costs. The first models based on VAN.EA are expected to debut in spring 2025.

The Düsseldorf venue holds special significance — it’s home to one of only three Sprinter production plants worldwide. In honor of the anniversary, Mercedes-Benz is offering factory tours, opening a window into the production process and the plant’s vital role in the regional economy.

For three decades, the Sprinter has not just adapted to the motorhome market — it has helped shape it. With each new model, Mercedes-Benz reinforces a legacy built on flexibility, trust, and innovation. Caravan Salon 2025 proves one thing: the Sprinter isn’t just a van — it’s the backbone of modern nomadic life.
