Porsche AG presents the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche, a limited series honoring the 911 designer. Learn key details, design context, and production plans.

The first example of the Porsche 911 GT3 “90 F. A. Porsche” already exists — and it was not built for the market, but as a personal car for the designer’s son, becoming the starting point for a limited series of just 90 units.

This one-off vehicle was developed through the Sonderwunsch program, where Porsche creates highly individualized cars in close collaboration with clients. It later became the foundation for a production run celebrating what would have been the 90th birthday of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the designer of the original 911 and a key figure in shaping the brand’s visual identity. Orders are set to open in April 2026, with customers invited to configure their cars individually alongside the Sonderwunsch team.

The model is based on the 911 GT3 with Touring Package, combining a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 510 PS with a more understated exterior. This choice reflects F. A. Porsche’s design philosophy, where form follows function and unnecessary elements are deliberately avoided. The absence of a fixed rear wing reinforces that approach.

That philosophy is evident in the details. A new exterior color, F. A. Green Metallic, was developed specifically for the model, inspired by cars from the designer’s personal collection but not directly copied. Inside, Truffle Brown leather is paired with a fabric pattern known as F. A. Grid-Weave, referencing his clothing style. Even tactile elements such as the gear lever, finished in open-pore walnut, emphasize material honesty and user interaction.

The anniversary edition also highlights historical continuity. Design elements include the 1963 Porsche crest and a “ONE of 90” plaque on each car. The vehicle is delivered with matching Porsche Design accessories — a limited Chronograph 1 watch and a Weekender bag — both produced in editions of 90.

The broader context reinforces the significance of the project. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche not only designed the 911 in the early 1960s but established principles that have allowed the model to retain its identity across eight generations. He later extended these ideas into industrial design through Porsche Design, founded in 1972.

The setting of Zell am See adds another layer. It is closely tied to the Porsche family history, home to the Schüttgut estate, and the place where F. A. Porsche spent part of his youth and later established his design studio. Today, it remains a central point of connection between heritage and contemporary brand culture.

With its limited production, direct involvement of the Porsche family, and factory-level customization, the 911 GT3 “90 F. A. Porsche” is positioned as a collector’s model. Production is expected to begin after final configurations are completed in 2026.
