Rivian Establishes New East Coast HQ in Atlanta, Georgia

Rivian to open East Coast headquarters in Atlanta, adding 500 jobs and supporting its future Georgia EV plant, according to the company’s official announcement.
American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian is expanding its footprint on the East Coast with the opening of a new headquarters in Atlanta. The office will be located in the Junction Krog District building, a modern complex overlooking the BeltLine in Atlanta’s vibrant Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Rivian plans to occupy the top floor and lobby of the building, with around 100 employees expected by the end of 2025 and a full build-out accommodating 500.
This move complements Rivian’s larger investment in Georgia, where the company is developing a new manufacturing site at Stanton Springs North, just outside Atlanta. The factory is designed to produce up to 400,000 vehicles annually, including the upcoming R2 and R3 models. While construction is currently paused, production is expected to begin in 2028. In support of the project, Rivian secured a substantial $6.6 billion loan from the U.S. Department of Energy, covering both capital expenditures and interest obligations.
Rivian is also building strong partnerships with Georgia’s technical colleges. Institutions like Georgia Piedmont Technical College and Athens Technical College have launched apprenticeship and training programs with the company, signaling a long-term commitment to local workforce development.
The choice of Junction Krog District as Rivian’s East Coast base is no coincidence. The property includes features such as EV charging stations, bike storage, and open public spaces, aligning with the company’s sustainability values. Developed by Portman Holdings, the site is envisioned as a dynamic urban hub—and Rivian’s arrival reinforces that vision.
As the EV industry faces growing competition and slowing growth, Rivian’s strategy of geographic expansion and investment in human capital stands out. With Georgia’s project gaining momentum, all eyes are now on Atlanta as an emerging focal point in the electric vehicle landscape.
