CUPRA Introduces New Entry-Level Tavascan EV Variant
CUPRA presents an updated Tavascan with a new 140 kW entry-level variant, improved digital cockpit and Android infotainment. Explore the full details of the update.
CUPRA has expanded the all-electric Tavascan line-up with a new entry-level version, effectively opening the model to a broader audience. The new variant delivers 140 kW (190 hp) and uses a 58 kWh battery, offering a range of around 435 km and fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes.
This move reshapes the model’s positioning. Until now, the Tavascan was available only with a 77 kWh battery and outputs ranging from 286 to 340 hp. The introduction of a lower-powered version creates a more accessible entry point while maintaining the brand’s focus on combining efficiency with a driver-oriented character.
The update goes beyond the powertrain. Inside, the Tavascan receives a new 10.25-inch digital cockpit, while the infotainment system now runs on Android OS with access to an integrated app store. CUPRA has also introduced a steering wheel with physical buttons, reinforcing direct control, alongside digital features such as smartphone-based access and the ability to share up to four digital keys.
Practicality has also been enhanced. With vehicle-to-load capability, the car can power external devices such as laptops or e-bikes. Performance-focused features remain part of the package, including Launch Control for versions equipped with the larger 77 kWh battery, as well as one-pedal driving, which enables smoother deceleration and energy recovery in urban conditions.
The Tavascan plays a key role in CUPRA’s electric strategy. It is the brand’s first fully electric SUV coupe and is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, shared with models like the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5. CUPRA positions it as a more emotional and performance-oriented interpretation within this architecture.
Production of the updated model is set to begin in the coming weeks at Volkswagen’s plant in China, with the first customer deliveries expected after the summer. The expanded range, now including the new entry-level variant, is therefore scheduled to reach the market within the year.
