Richard Raimist’s Half-Century Journey with Sepia Brown Porsche

Discover Richard Raimist’s unique Porsche collection in Sepia Brown, from his first 1973 911 T Targa to a new Cayman GT4 RS, celebrating 50 years of passion.
In the quiet town of Jupiter, Florida, behind an unassuming garage door lies an entire universe of Porsche history. Former racer and collector Richard Raimist has built a sanctuary where every detail reflects motorsport passion and a deep connection to the brand. Surrounded by helmets, trophies, and rare cars, the true symbol of his collection is the unique Sepia Brown paint that has been part of Raimist’s life for over fifty years.

The story began in early 1970s Los Angeles. As a young man, Raimist watched Porsche cars rush through the streets and dreamed of one day being behind the wheel. In 1973, he purchased his first 911 T Targa in Sepia Brown—a decision that would shape his life. That car launched his racing journey, from amateur competitions to professional events, including the iconic 24 Hours of Daytona, and ultimately to founding his own team, Team A.R.E., which achieved notable results in IMSA racing.
Even after retiring from professional motorsport in 2000, Raimist’s devotion to Porsche never faded. Today, his collection includes seven cars, three of which are painted in Sepia Brown: the original 911 T Targa, a modern 911 Targa 4 GTS, and a 718 Spyder RS. This summer, a fourth car—a Cayman GT4 RS—will join the family, ordered through the Paint to Sample program that revives classic Porsche colors for contemporary models.
Raimist’s garage has become a landmark in Florida. His Sepia Brown cars frequently appear at automotive events, admired by classic car enthusiasts. The color has become a living thread, connecting different Porsche eras and telling a story of enduring passion.
The love for rare Porsche colors resonates in other stories as well. Justin Roeser spent years hunting down Moonstone (“Flieder”) cars, assembling an exceptionally rare set of 911, 924, and 928 models, and traveling 10,000 kilometers across Europe to uncover the color’s floral origins and unique pigments.
In the Auto Shanghai 2025 news, Porsche highlighted the connection between its heritage and modern technology not only through design but also with the use of rare colors. The new 911 Spirit 70 features a special Olive Neo paint, inspired by the color palette of the 1970s and paired with a classic “Pascha”-style interior. This shade continues the tradition of Porsche’s iconic colors, such as Sepia Brown and Moonstone, which have become symbols of entire eras and are especially valued by collectors today.
