Lexus introduces Bloom by Lexus at the 2026 Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, combining cultural experiences, vehicles and Japanese hospitality. Learn more.

Lexus is turning one of the largest spring events in the United States into an interactive cultural space, where cars become part of the experience itself. At the 2026 National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., the brand launches Bloom by Lexus — a series of immersive activations designed to let visitors take part rather than simply observe.

The format goes beyond a traditional display. At Petalpalooza, guests create their own bouquets using Japanese-inspired flowers, taste cherry blossom-shaped desserts, and engage with vehicles integrated into floral installations. The LC 500 Convertible, LX 700h, ES 350e and RZ 550e are presented not as standalone products, but as elements of a visual composition enhanced by mirrored structures and live music. At the same time, test drives of the RX 450h+ and RZ 450e introduce a practical layer to the experience.

This approach is closely tied to the scale of the festival itself. The National Cherry Blossom Festival attracts more than 1.6 million visitors each year and spans several weeks, commemorating Japan’s 1912 gift of over 3,000 cherry trees to Washington. That historical context positions Lexus’ presence not just as a marketing activation, but as part of an ongoing cultural exchange where Japanese traditions continue to shape the identity of the U.S. capital.

At the core of the concept is omotenashi, the Japanese philosophy of hospitality centered on attention to detail and anticipating guests’ needs. In this setting, it translates into personalized interactions — from bouquet-making to curated tastings and multisensory installations — where participation becomes the defining element of the experience.

The choice of vehicles reinforces this narrative. The LC 500 Convertible, powered by a naturally aspirated V8, acts as an emotional and visual centerpiece, while the LX 700h highlights the evolution of Lexus’ hybrid lineup. The electric ES 350e and RZ 550e reflect the expansion of the Lexus Electrified strategy, which spans hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles. The festival setting therefore becomes a platform where design, culture and technology intersect.

This participation also aligns with Lexus’ broader involvement in cultural and design events, including installations at Milan Design Week. In Washington, the approach takes on additional meaning, connecting product strategy with the symbolism of cherry blossoms and transforming a seasonal celebration into a space where technology, heritage and urban life meet.
