Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo combines real and digital performance, merging design innovation with gaming culture at IAA and Gran Turismo World Series.

At IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Opel presented one of its most ambitious projects — the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. The electric concept combines two worlds: the physical performance car and its digital twin in the racing simulator Gran Turismo 7. With 588 kW (800 hp), 800 Nm of torque and a top speed of 320 km/h, the Corsa GSE VGT demonstrates how far the brand’s GSE division has moved into a future of high-performance electrification.

The concept debuted on September 8 at IAA Mobility and later appeared at the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin on September 20, where the virtual version was officially released to players on September 24. It marks Opel’s first full-scale entry into the Vision Gran Turismo programme, aligning the real and virtual design philosophies into a single statement of performance and innovation.

Opel’s design team, led by Florian Theis, reimagined the brand’s Compass and Vizor motifs in a radically dynamic form. The concept features active aerodynamic elements such as an adaptive diffuser, a movable rear spoiler and air curtains that channel airflow across the body. Inside, the minimalist cockpit replaces traditional screens with a head-up display and a lightweight suspended seat system. Each design decision mirrors the brand’s “phygital” approach — a seamless link between tangible engineering and digital emotion.

Media reports indicate that the prototype rides on 21-inch front and 22-inch rear Goodyear tyres and uses Bilstein dampers, with construction incorporating lightweight composites. Some sources reference the use of flax-fibre materials from Bcomp, though Opel has not officially confirmed the supplier. What’s clear, however, is that the weight-saving strategy aligns with the brand’s goal to maximise performance within the GSE’s electric architecture.

The “OMG! GSE” video series accompanying the launch documented each stage of development — from early design sketches to public reaction at IAA and the GT World Series. Viewers were given an inside look at how Opel’s engineers, designers and marketing teams brought the project from digital vision to tangible prototype. Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo, praised the model as “a very realistic design”, highlighting its contribution to the ongoing Vision Gran Turismo dialogue about the future of mobility.

While many details — such as the car’s aerodynamic coefficients or battery specifics — remain undisclosed, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo already serves as a manifesto for the next generation of Opel’s electric performance vehicles. By entering the Gran Turismo universe, Opel not only extended its motorsport narrative but also hinted at what its upcoming GSE lineup might look and feel like in the years to come.
