Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale North American debut at Monterey Car Week

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale made its North American debut at Monterey Car Week 2025, highlighting Italian design, craftsmanship and performance in a limited 33-unit run.
The 2025 Monterey Car Week in California became the stage for the North American debut of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, a modern revival of the legendary 1967 Tipo 33 Stradale. The car immediately captured attention, standing out as one of the highlights of the week.
The fascination lies not only in its beauty. Built entirely by hand at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, the 33 Stradale merges Formula One-derived engineering with bespoke customization under the “Bottega” program. Each of the 33 cars is tailored to its owner’s specifications, with even VIN details open to personalization. Unsurprisingly, every unit was sold out well before its official unveiling.
Technically, the car offers two distinct paths: a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing over 620 horsepower and an 800-volt electric version with more than 750 horsepower. Both achieve 0–100 km/h in under three seconds, though their weight differs significantly — under 1,500 kg for the combustion model and around 2,100 kg for the EV. Reports suggest that most customers opted for the V6 powertrain.
The connection to history is deliberate. Between 1967 and 1969, only 18 units of the original Tipo 33 Stradale were built, and today they command prices well into the tens of millions of euros. The new Stradale draws directly on this heritage, preserving the iconic form while adding 21st-century engineering.
Throughout Car Week, the 33 Stradale appeared at four prestigious venues. It debuted at Motorlux, followed by an intimate evening at the Hagerty House featuring a discussion with Alfa Romeo’s global marketing chief Cristiano Fiorio and U.S. owner Glynn Bloomquist. The Quail provided another showcase among rare automobiles, and the final act came at Laguna Seca, where the Stradale stood alongside the Giulia, Stelvio and Tonale, underscoring Alfa Romeo’s deep motorsport roots.
Automotive media compared the 33 Stradale to limited-production rivals such as the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, Ferrari Monza SP2 and Aston Martin Valkyrie. Yet, Alfa Romeo distinguishes itself by blending artisanal Italian craftsmanship with a design ethos rooted in history. Company leaders have already confirmed that this will not be the last “fuoriserie” project, signaling the start of a new era for the brand.
