Volkswagen ID. Polo and CROSS Concept debut at IAA Mobility 2025

Volkswagen reveals ID. Polo, GTI and CROSS Concept at IAA 2025, highlighting new brand direction and accessible electric models for European markets.
Volkswagen unveiled its renewed brand strategy at the IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich under the motto “True Volkswagen”. The company emphasized a return to its core values — clean design, high quality, value for money, intuitive operation, and technological innovation.
The spotlight was on a new generation of compact electric vehicles. Four models were presented: the ID. Polo, the ID. Polo GTI, the ID. CROSS Concept SUV, and the entry-level ID. EVERY1 prototype. All are aimed at the European market and are scheduled to arrive from 2026 onwards.
The ID. CROSS Concept was one of the main premieres. This compact SUV, just over four meters long, targets the mass segment with an estimated range of around 420 kilometers (WLTP), a 155 kW electric motor, and a versatile interior with foldable seating. With Renault and Chinese manufacturers intensifying competition, Volkswagen is positioning the model as a balance between affordability and its traditional quality.
The ID. Polo continues the story of the ID.2all show car, now taking on the familiar name of a combustion-era bestseller. Alongside it, the electric GTI version debuts, marking the transfer of a legacy performance badge into the EV era. Media reports suggest a base price of about €25,000, while the GTI variant is expected to carry strong symbolic weight for the brand.
Volkswagen is also renewing its combustion and hybrid lineup. The new generations of the T-Roc, Tiguan, Tayron, and Passat were revealed, with the second-generation T-Roc retaining its bestseller status while gaining a redesigned interior and expanded powertrain options.
The ID. EVERY1 concept highlights Volkswagen’s ambition to make electric mobility widely accessible. The company set a target entry price of around €20,000 and underscored the role of a new software architecture designed for long-term over-the-air updates.
Although many specifications and production details remain undisclosed, the company’s focus is clear: Europe. Spanish media pointed to Martorell and Navarra as likely production sites, though Volkswagen has not officially confirmed this allocation.
In this light, the “True Volkswagen” approach can be seen as an effort to rebuild trust and respond to the growing competition in affordable electric cars. Questions remain about exact timelines, production volumes, and sales targets, but the emphasis on familiar model names and realistic pricing signals a decisive new chapter for the brand.
