Electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class unveiled in Seoul
Mercedes-Benz presented the electric C-Class in Seoul with up to 760 km WLTP range, dual motors and new digital systems. Explore key specs and details.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the first fully electric C-Class with an ambitious claim: the C 400 4MATIC electric offers over 760 km of WLTP range and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about four seconds. The model made its global debut on April 20, 2026, in Seoul, marking a major shift for one of the brand’s core nameplates.
The new C-Class keeps its familiar identity — comfort, elegance and sportiness — but translates it into an electric architecture. It uses a dual-motor setup delivering around 360 kW and up to 800 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive system is adaptive: the front motor can disengage during steady driving to improve efficiency and reconnect when needed. A key technical feature is the two-speed transmission on the rear axle, designed to balance acceleration and high-speed efficiency.
The 800-volt platform enables fast charging performance, adding roughly 320–325 km of range in about 10 minutes. The battery capacity is estimated at 94–94.5 kWh. The car also supports bidirectional charging, allowing it to supply energy to external devices or homes, expanding its role beyond transportation.
Inside, the focus shifts to a fully digital experience. A 39-inch MBUX Hyperscreen dominates the cabin, integrating AI-based services such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Bing. Navigation uses real-time data, including traffic, terrain and weather, to optimize routes. The system is complemented by augmented reality displays, advanced driver assistance features at L2++ level, and an air suspension that can proactively adapt to road conditions using map data.
Comfort remains central to the C-Class identity. A longer wheelbase increases interior space, while improved sound insulation and a heat pump-based climate system enhance everyday usability. Premium materials, including Nappa leather and alternative options, are available, and a panoramic roof with illuminated elements creates a distinctive “starry sky” effect.
Choosing Seoul for the world premiere reflects strategic intent. South Korea is one of the most competitive EV markets, and the launch highlights Mercedes-Benz’s effort to strengthen its position against rivals such as Tesla and BMW. The electric C-Class directly targets models like the BMW i4 and upcoming electric i3, as well as Audi’s A6 e-tron.
The model is part of a broader shift within the company. Mercedes-Benz continues to expand its electric lineup while maintaining parallel development of combustion-engine vehicles, signaling a transitional phase in the industry. In this context, the C-Class evolves from a core sedan into a technological benchmark in the mid-size segment, aiming to deliver a full replacement rather than a compromise.
