Porsche unveiled Cayenne Electric and Cayenne Black Edition at Goodwood 2025, highlighting performance, comfort, and off-road capabilities of its SUV lineup.

At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Porsche once again proved that an SUV can be the embodiment of performance. The main attraction was the upcoming Cayenne Electric — still wrapped in camouflage, but already revealing its capabilities in motion.

Driven by Formula E test and simulator driver Gabriela Jílková, the Cayenne Electric prototype attacked the famous Goodwood hill with remarkable pace. Just weeks earlier, Jílková had set a new SUV record at Shelsley Walsh, clocking 31.28 seconds over the 914-metre course — beating the previous record by more than four seconds. Even more impressively, the car covered the initial 60 feet (18.3 metres) in just 1.94 seconds, a time typically seen in race-spec machines.

At the heart of this performance is Porsche’s Active Ride suspension system. Instead of conventional anti-roll bars, the setup uses hydraulic actuators that adjust pressure at each wheel in real time. The result is a body that stays level during hard braking, sharp turns, and rapid acceleration. Originally introduced on the Taycan and Panamera, the system has now been adapted for the larger Cayenne platform.

But Porsche didn’t just focus on the future. The current-generation Cayenne also received the spotlight with the debut of the Black Edition. Offered with three powertrain options and in both SUV and Coupé forms, the Black Edition features high-gloss black accents, 21-inch wheels with coloured Porsche crests, HD Matrix LED headlights, a BOSE® surround sound system, and Comfort seats with memory function.

The festival experience extended beyond the hillclimb. Guests were invited on guided off-road drives through the rolling hills of the South Downs, starting from the grounds of West Dean College. Once again, the Cayenne showcased its off-road credentials — adaptive suspension, standard all-wheel drive, multiple off-road modes and generous ground clearance reaffirm its reputation as a true all-rounder.

The Cayenne Electric's next major appearance is set for September at IAA Mobility in Munich. Porsche has confirmed it will not only showcase the prototype but also present a new technical innovation designed to make electric driving even more refined. For now, the full picture remains under wraps — but anticipation is clearly building.
